This new initiative is an accreditation scheme that asks members to pledge to improve their environmental actions over time through a series of simple commitments and to reduce their environmental impact year on year. Big Tree Society founder Eoin Cox has already won national awards for sustainable business development, community woodland regeneration and environmentally responsible business leadership. All sounds very grand but it's all about a common sense approach to woodland and a consistent and constant delivery of people and products. Big Tree Society sources all the wood used in the course work from the local estate forestry yard, two minutes walk from the workshop. So we know where it comes from, who grew it and managed it , what is going to planted in its place. Our multi- benefit approach to forestry means that we have habitat, restoration, economy, education, and social aspects inclusive and core to our work.
