Since prehistoric times, through to medieval and to the present industrial age of the Scottish Borders where we live the wooded landscape has been used for fuel and building materials. Our landscape has been forested, scoured by glaciers, reforested, deforested, farmed and is slowly, slowly getting some of our trees back into the landscape. Its an area of continuous occupation for over 5,000 years. A long "relationship" with trees. The Big Tree Society supports community woodland activity throughout Scotland and beyond.
Because we live in Scotland and we get so much rain, we take our green landscape for granted sometimes. Its not until you start to break down the green spectrum and analyse the palette that you see just how many 00's of green there actually is.
Was a hot day stripping the willow with Sho, Anthony, Elise, Allister, Paul and Alex. We all harvested, stripped and made six amazing chairs for the garden. Great craic as usual amongst the new makers.
