Thanks to all the folks that have taken part and who have booked up for courses this year. Your response has been fantastic. We must be doing something right for such an interest in our methods ! We only have the following days left for this year. If you've had a good experience on one of our days why don't you either come back or recommend a days making to a pal, partner or colleague. 2015 DATES REMAINING Permission to Draw Sept 26th Cancellation Place Rustic Hedge Chairs Oct 3/4th One Place Rustic Stool Making Oct 17th One Place Yule Stool Day Dec 5th Four Places

Here's a recent article that we wrote for Reforesting Scotland Journal. This is a long established organisation promoting people and place in our woodlands and forests. Big Tree Society pleased to be part of it all !!!
"Just completed the 'stool' course today and enjoyed every second of it. Eoin, Gail and Dave were fantastic . Knowledgeable, helpful and above all really great fun. To top it all I have a cool piece of furniture. I will be back and couldn't recommend it enough! Thanks ".... Gareth "I had a great time, and it was great to get back to basics. I must confess, that spending much time at a desk day to day, has made me soft, and my muscles were protesting somewhat on Saturday night. However, had I live 500 years ago, I'm convinced that I would have been employed as a craftsman, or bodger more like, as I just love making stuff. " Keith "Had a brilliant day on a Stool making course run by Eoin and Gail. You couldn't ask for more helpful (or patient) instructors. Everything was explained thoroughly and then they just let you get on with it. There is such a sense of achievement to be gained from a course like this. Thank you for a wonderful day!" Polly "I really needed a break from the routine - to reconnect my brain with my hands. The atmosphere was supportive and very much tailored to individual ability and experience. I felt that I learned so much, and know that future efforts will benefit from that practical experience. I'm very proud of the chair that I made, and will haunt my family forever to make sure that it's handed down through the generations." Robert This new initiative is an accreditation scheme that asks members to pledge to improve their environmental actions over time through a series of simple commitments and to reduce their environmental impact year on year. Big Tree Society founder Eoin Cox has already won national awards for sustainable business development, community woodland regeneration and environmentally responsible business leadership. All sounds very grand but it's all about a common sense approach to woodland and a consistent and constant delivery of people and products. Big Tree Society sources all the wood used in the course work from the local estate forestry yard, two minutes walk from the workshop. So we know where it comes from, who grew it and managed it , what is going to planted in its place. Our multi- benefit approach to forestry means that we have habitat, restoration, economy, education, and social aspects inclusive and core to our work.
