Cutler’s stool – Ash and Sycamore.
Join us to learn how to make a traditional Cutler’s stool. A classic piece of British vernacular furniture design, developed over generations of cutlery workers in Sheffield. An intensive course in a single day, perfect for those who have little experience in furniture making. You will design and build your own stool, using traditional tools in a beautiful traditional setting to transform a log into a fantastically functional piece of furniture.
We ask all participants to bring lunch, warm working clothes and strong sensible footwear. We gather up at 9.30 for a cuppa, meet the others and get started by 10, working through until about 5. If you need suggestions for accommodation see here .
