Instead Stool Making Workshop : Sept 14th 2024 SOLD OUT
As part of a fundraiser for a documentary film about Tim Stead : Magician With Wood This is a donation reward for a place on a course where you'll make not one of Tim’s pieces of furniture but one of your own InStead! Run by Eoin Cox & the award-winning Big Tree Society using Wooplaw Ash and Elm, you'll make a stool inspired by one of Tim’s early designs. Working in greenwood, old tools in a traditional way at Tim’s first workshop at Harestanes, Scottish Borders. Materials, tuition, lunch & the infamous craic included but not travel.

All courses are run from our Buy Design Gallery garden courtyard. It was the old Dairy and Milking yard for the estate farm in years past. Working outside and under cover makes it a great setting and as a space for learning and enjoyment.
We ask all participants to bring lunch, warm working clothes and strong sensible footwear. We gather up at 9.30 for a cuppa, meet the others and get started by 10, working through til about 5. If you need suggestions for accommodation see here .
